Week 3 2021
Tea market report 18 – 22 January 2021
In this week’s Mombasa auction, there was fair general demand for the 156,689 packages on offer, with outlots standing at 24k packages as compared to 17k last week. The all average hammer lost 1 point to settle at $1.97. EoR BP1’s lost some steam and were irregularly steady to easier with only the very best remaining firm, due to antagonism between Sudan and Kazakh buyers. WoR BP1’s sold at firm to slightly dearer rates with CKL maintaining their support. Rwanda BP1’s met irregular demand, while mediums were easier and plainer types went to Sudan and local packers.
