WEEK 32, 2018

Tea market report 6 – 10 August 2018

Last week’s published healthy closing of 149k packages for week 34 in Mombasa was partially caused by some gardens offloading their stocks. This week’s published closing of 146k packages for week 35 can’t be considered as another incident. There is enough tea in and around Kenya. This in combination with insecurity around the recent elections in Pakistan and a closed border with Afghanistan eroded buyer’s confidence in Mombasa. In the meantime, the weather conditions are seasonally normal with low temperatures and some reports of hail.
