Week 43, 2019
Tea market report 21 – 25 October 2019
After weeks of generally firm to dearer trading sessions, this week’s Mombasa auction showed some signs of weakness. Most grades traded steady to easier, only the plainer BP1s and PF1s traded clearly firm to dearer. In the meantime, useful rains in the tea growing areas are beneficial for growing tea, however temperatures are declining. The improving leaf intake of the past weeks is also reflected by the auction quantities which are crawling up to 151k packages for week 46. In Malawi the auction quantities are still small but common for the off season.
