Tea market report 4 – 8 November 2019

IAuction quantities are gradually crawling up at the Mombasa auction, a similar movement is made by the tea prices but in opposite direction. This week was a generally bearish affair in Mombasa. Yesterday’s published September crop showed a healthy tea production but not as good as last year’s record crop. In the meantime, current weather conditions are healthy for growing tea with regular rainfall and sunshine. In Malawi the auctions remain small which is normal for the time of the year. The heat is still building up until the sky will burst with rain, which is necessary for tea production to pick up. Tea bushes are suffering under the heat while producers try to attract buyers with their forward offers.
