WEEK 6, 2019

Tea market report 4 – 8 February 2019

Again, a big auction in Kenya, with 192K pkgs on offer. It started off on a stronger note with good absorption for all sorts with the exception of the poor plainer types. Most buyers lost steam during the sale with the closing being softer, leading to a heavy outlot figure of 41K (21%). Upcoming auction quantities remain very high with next week 197k packages to be sold. With the dry weather kicked in we will have to wait and see if this will be reflected in the closings in the next 4-6 weeks. The next raining period will start again around the end of March.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
