WEEK 23, 2017

Tea market report 5 – 9 June 2017

As usual the EoR BP1s behaved differently from the other teas in Mombasa’s auction room, this week they eased. Other grades gained, mainly driven by increased buying activities in Egypt. Furthermore, the 131k on offer for next week and the 130k for the week after, made buyers reluctant to secure their supplies in anticipation of the Eid holidays. Weather is still favorable throughout Eastern Africa, resulting in a ‘wobble’ of auction quantities before the dry season begins.
