Tea market report 20 – 24 April 2020

In these unusual circumstances general rules don’t apply. Therefore, the general rule that smaller auctions attract reduced demand wasn’t applicable for this week’s reduced amount on offer in Mombasa. The 182k packages met strong demand leading to a reduced 6% outlots. The all average hammer price increased by 7usc/kg bringing the average to 2.12 usd/kg. BP1s met good demand, Best BP1s gained up to 15cts, below best irregularly firm, good mediums 2-10cts up, medium 6-12cts up and plainer firm to dearer.
