WEEK 7, 2019

Tea market report 11 – 15 February 2019

As witnessed in the past, in Kenya, large auctions attract the greatest demand. With 197K pkgs on offer and very strong demand, almost 90% of all teas have been sold. Due to the favourable weather conditions in December, the monthly crop figure was released at 51.82m kgs. Resulting in a record high annual figure of 493m kgs, which was 12% higher than 2017. Pakistan has maintained their leading buying position by taking 177m kgs over the whole year, followed by Egypt, UK and UAE. The weather condition remains dry which is normal for the time of the year, resulting in a declining crop.
