Tea market report 9 - 18 April 2019
The different tone from last week’s auction remained in Mombasa. There was a strong demand amongst the buyers, especially for the PD’s and D1’s. The weather is very unusual for this time of year. With the delayed rains, the newspapers are already talking about drought. The longer the rains take to arrive, the longer the bushes need to recover, all eventually having effect on the quality of the tea. Two more sales of 150+k pkgs on offer ahead of us, dropping finally to 125,031 packages in week 19.
